A woman from Meriden, Connecticut — playing the lottery for the first time — won $500,000 through the Powerball “Double Play” add-on.
She bought the ticket while Mega Millions jackpot was rolling high, opted for Quick-Pick and Double Play on a whim — and ended up matching all five black balls (though missing the red Powerball).
She said she plans to use the winnings to pay off her mortgage and celebrate her daughter’s wedding.
