On March 17, 2025, the California Lottery announced that Rosemary Casarotti was the sole winner of the December 27, 2024 drawing — scoring the largest Mega Millions jackpot California has ever seen: US$1.269 billion (cash option ≈ $571.9 million).
The winning ticket was sold at Sunrise Food and Gas (Circle K) in Cottonwood, Shasta County.
